Heat for health:
- Decrease pain and inflammation and speed healing * do not
use in first 72 hours post surgery or illness
- Increases blood flow, increases oxygen and nutrients to
area which aids recovery
- Increases lymphatic drainage, helping to flush away toxins
- Alleviates
the pain and symptoms of conditions such as: arthritis, rheumatism,
cold back, endinitis, adhesive capsulitis, muscle soreness, abscess and
other forms of joint stiffness, muscle stiffness and tension.
- Effects on circulation, metabolism and nerves: heat plays a
vital role in the rehabilitation of chronic injuries
- Improves range of movement
- Increases the collagen's (healing tissue) and enzyme
activity (which speeds healing)
- Improves muscle contractility and stretching capability
Heat for mobility and performance:
- Prior to exercise warming muscles should result in
increased relaxation, flexibility, suppleness and mobility
- After exercise to ease the pain of tired, aching muscles.
How to use : Place heat source on or near site of pain. Note : When
cryotherapy and heat therapy are applied together, they are typically
done as follows: cryotherapy for 10 minutes; heat therapy for 10
minutes; cryotherapy for 10 minutes. This sequence is repeated up to 3
times daily.
